Greene County Judge Challen Waychoff established Greene County Memorial Park in 1929 in collaboration with local businessmen. The first burial took place on Jan. 25, 1930, and since then there have been over 9,700 interments in the 48 acres of developed land. In the Garden of the Cross, there is a large white concrete cross mounted on a two-tiered round stone base, which is illuminated at night. The mausoleum, “Chapel of Everlasting Love,” was dedicated in 1985, with a new wing added in 1995, and then again in 1997. The Lawn Crypt section was added in 1992, with double and single-depth crypts. Private burial estates are also available.
