6605 Morningside Avenue Memorial Park Cemetery was incorporated on the 19th of August 1936. It was a new concept in cemetery design – flush memorials replaced the traditional monuments, giving the cemetery a park atmosphere. One miniature castle, which was constructed and donated by Bob Merchant in memory of his parents, shelter these birds. Also located within the park is the beautiful outdoor Resurrection Mausoleum constructed in 1981. Several private mausoleums were added since that time, and are located in various gardens and near the lake. The Columbariums found within the network of bridges and sidewalks surrounding the lake provides families with another burial option, cremation niche inurnment. Additionally, Glass Front Niches are available at the Tower of Legends. Traditional ground burial gardens throughout the park give this cemetery a very peaceful, serene atmosphere with their individual features, trees, shrubs and flowerbeds. Culturally diverse, Memorial Park dedicated the newest Garden, Our Lady of Guadalupe with statue, in September of 2007. Sioux City is home to one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the US. Since 1936, Memorial Park Cemetery has set the standard with its luscious and beautiful scenery.
