Roosevelt Memorial Park is located in the Tidewater coastal plain of eastern Virginia, only 20 miles away from the Atlantic Ocean. Roosevelt was established in 1957 and is located on fifty-two acres of land, approximately one mile from the Elizabeth River, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. The topography of the entire region is flat and near sea level. The cemetery is entirely land-locked with Interstate 64 bordering the south, Interstate 464 on the east and local city streets to the north and west.
The older, established section of the cemetery is lightly populated with towering oak, pine and crepe myrtle trees giving the cemetery a nature feel. The newer section of the cemetery, still under development, contains several beautiful Bradford pear trees.
Roosevelt offers traditional ground burial, in addition to mausoleum entombment, cremation niches and a small section of double-depth lawn crypts.
