Today, the park contains 13 gardens, including a garden mausoleum and a chapel mausoleum spread out over approximately 65 acres of rolling terrain. In the Garden of the Wall of Samaria, there is a rare Rosato marble well curb sculptured in Italy that was once part of the Satterthwaite Estate in Long Island, N.Y. A companion piece to this 500-year-old treasure is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Sunset is nestled among the beautiful mountains of Western Maryland. Some of the feature gardens include a veterans’ section, which as a monument for each branch of service, and a Masonic garden, which has the open Bible and alter. Many people appreciate the two pet gardens within Sunset. Another garden is the Garden of Nativity, which was blessed by the Rev. Monsignor Kilkenny, a Catholic priest, from St. Patrick’s Rectory, on Dec. 12, 1956. Sunset offers traditional burials with bronze memorials, as well as mausoleum burials, niches, benches, pet services, and private estates. Sunset Memorial Park provides a beautiful and serene environment for all people who visit. Sunset Memorial Park rests just 74 miles west of Fredrick, Maryland and is comfortably tucked away along side the Mountains of Western Maryland. Sunset Memorial Park is a great choice if you are looking for a Cumberland cemetery, Frostburg cemetery, or Allegany County cemetery. |
